About:

• Dr. Jeevaraj Sorake is an Eminent Surgeon, practicing since over 35years, who has performed several rare surgeries over the years.
• He started his career as a Asst. Professor in Manipal University later joined Govt. Wenlock Hospital Mangalore as a Medical Officer and worked in Neurosurgery department for 5yrs.
• Worked as Asst. Professor of Surgery in K.M.C Mangalore for a period of 12yrs.
• Took voluntary retirement from Government Service & from K.M.C Mangalore and started S.C.S Hospital, a 150 bedded Multispeciality hospital in the heart of Mangalore in1988.
• Currently he is actively serving as a Director of Institution of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Ltd (IMRI) and Apna Desh – A very successful NGO committed to bring about a mass transformation in India, by bring about a positive transformation in young minds and hearts.
• He is also the founder of Vardhaman Educational and Charitable Trust founder and was the Secretary of Karnataka Educational & Charitable Trust (Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College, Nursing Colleges currently & College of Physiotherapy – formerly), was the Secretary of MEF (Mangalore Education Foundation) and Executive Committee Member of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
• The Chairman & Management of Air India have lauded the commendable efforts of Dr. Jeevaraj Sorake and his team in treating and curing the survivors of the Air India crash in 2010 (Dubai to Mangalore, Boeing 737-800), noted to be the country’s worst aviation disaster and restoring health and smiles.
• Some of the survivors who got themselves discharged from other famous hospitals gave a press note that they feel fully satisfied and completely reassured under the caring hands of Dr. Jeevaraj Sorake

Charitable Initiatives:

• Conducting a free Medical camp for the underprivileged section of Society in Gandhinagar, Mangaluru every Sunday since 32 years, where about 150 patients are examined, investigated and treated. Also conducting free rural medical camps at frequent intervals.
• The doctor is issuing 300 Scholarships to students of the weaker sections of Society every year, since last 10 years.
• Also conducting a rural school Social Welfare programme, where 10 schools are getting benefited.
• Led the young scouts and guides and college students as well as professionals by tirelessly taking up awareness programs and cleaning initiatives in Mangalore Central Railway Station, Kankanady Railway Station, Central Market, District Lady Goschen Hospital, Durga Parameshwari Temple, colleges, hospitals, public & private sector enterprises in an effort to improve the sanitation and better public hygiene practices among the masses to reduce diseases and infection. Pivotal role in setting up the Brahmasthanam Temple in Mangalore.
• Worked as a President of Chinmaya Mission, Mangaluru, from 1998 to 2001. At present serving Chinmaya Mission as a Patron.
• Served as the President of Mata Amritanandamayi Seva Samithi, Mangalore for a period of 5 years.
• Led the Amala Bharatham Campaign in Mangalore from 2010 prior to the Government Campaign of Swacch Bharath.
• Dr. Jeevaraj has also taken pains tohelp the promotion of traditional Indian forms of medicine like Ayurveda and other holistic forms like homeopathy both by setting up colleges that ensure training & knowledge of traditional Indian medicine and by enabling service minded NGO’s to set up similar institutions in other states of India to enable dissemination of Ayurveda knowledge systematically to the younger generation.

• He has been felicitated and honoured by the President and monks of the Ramakrishna Math – Mangalore on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda for his tireless service without expectations and cited that they are inspired by his yeomen service.
